Island Lokrum

Lokrum is little island located on the southeast from Dubrovnik with surface smaller then 1km2. It cowers luxuriant vegetation, which is green all the time. It is famous place for daily trip for tourists and people from Dubrovnik, it takes about 10-12 minutes by ship. Amazing promenades and beaches are located at small bays. Island is protecting as a national park. The famous place is 10m depth and salty lake called Mrtvo more (Dead sea). Near benedict monastery was established in year 1023 and leaved at year 1798. Monastery was much damaged during earthquake in year 1667. In year 1859 bought island Austria archduke Maximilian and build residency in the shape of tower and established park with exotic plants. Small natural port Portoc is located at the east coast.
